I disagree with you on the whole selfish thing. I know where you are coming from saying it. The people who cut themselves, depending on who they are and all do it so that their emotions won't effect others. They do it so that their pain is theirs and they won't have to share it with others. That is the way I see it, but not all people do it for those reasons.
As for the suicide i disagree with you on that as well. When a person is alone of course, and doesn't have any responsibilities like small children I don't find it selfish. They have suffered enough. Everyone thinks that things will get better and whatever, but sometimes they never do. Sometimes a person gets tired of waiting for things to get better. I could understand why a person would go to such an extreme level. Yes, people who commit suicide are cowards from one stand point but look at it from their point of view. They have suffered through their pain for as long as they could have. They should get some strong points for that. Furthermore, everyone thinks its so easy to pull that trigger, but it really isn't. Knowing you are going to die this way, unhappy, knowing that after you shoot thats it, it's all over. Humans can't seem to really grasp, The End, and that is what makes it so hard. I just believe that certain people who commit suicide have their reasons for it and for this they shouldn't be judged.

Most suicides are people who are just depressed. There is nothing phyisically wrong with them, or with their lives.

That is what I call selfish. I have a great life, better than most people, but still I know how bad shit can be. So when dudes who are still better off than most of the world just "cant handle the pain" (Their favorite rock band Cure broke up for example) than I just dont think they are thinking about the big picture. To them life is all about how they feel. To me, its being a small part of something that is pretty good.

Quake 3 for example, I would have to struggle through the pain because I have a job: to turn noobs into gibs.
