SEM image of sand 17x

This is an image I took of sand grains under the SEM. This is pretty low magnification, only 17x, but already the detail of the grains can be seen. I like low magnification images like this because you can still connect the image to the object as we know it, but you can get a taste of the micro world that waits further study.
Again I ask that you not distribute my images without credit (name, web page, etc). Not that its a big deal, but there is probably some corporate legal issue with these that I dont know about... |

Sheesh... who knew sand could be interesting?! But with an SEM, anything is intersting.

There is a whole universe of detail that we miss every day. The more you know about it, the more incredible simple things become. Suddenly Boring dust becomes a forest of strange objects; seemingly perfect glass proves to have many imperfections.
