My most recent uninvited guest.

Today after work, as I logged on to read the recent quake 3 news, there was this huge crash by the window. It sounded like a bird just flew into it and died. But as I checked, I noticed a scratching noise and saw some fir through the cracks. You see my air conditioner requires that this window is open – only the plastic accordion from the AC stands between me and the horrors of NYC air.

It turns out, there was a squirrel that was investigating this window. And it appears he or she was trying to burrow into my office. After adding a screw to prevent the break in, I recorded some of the action. It was a pretty cute guy, but really aggressive. I could scare him away by turning on the AC, hitting the window, or spraying with the compressed gas electronics duster upside down, but he would always come back after a few minutes. He seems to have stopped for now, finally (maybe the duster blinded him). Here are some videos. Btw this is the same window as the have a nice day bag, if any of you remember that from the distant past. The bag is still there. It still makes films with PASSION.

I think the squirrel is adorable. I think city squirrels are much more bold that suburban or country squirrels. The city squirrels just aren't afraid of us much. We have one that will walk right up and hit your foot with his front paws to try to get a treat. He only runs if we let the cat out.

Good luck with the squirrel. They are stubborn and learn through trail and error. Ever see that video of the gay vs squirrel? he was trying to protect his birdfeeders... after several years he ended up with a whole jungle gym in his back yard for the squirrels.

Hi R2000, I am glad you visited the peppurr cats, so I could find your blog. Looks like we have some of the same likes in common, except I am not really into explosives... ;) Anyway, It was nice to see I am not the only one with pycho squirrels.

Are the squirrels planning to rule the earth or are they just getting more intelligent? I've squirrel problems in my garden, not with my fruits but with them stealing the oil wick from my altar even when it's lighted up!

When I was a kid, we used to have a squirrel like that at our kitchen window. Then he started messing around with the dryer vent. They can be very bold. I'm sure we've all heard of people having squirrel in their attics. They are very cute. As I was reading this, I was going to ask you about the bag. I would love a pic.

If you really want to get rid of that squirrel, you could try releasing a termite colony at the base of that tree.

Had a squirrel I could not keep off my birdfeeder, buried someone's leftover chicken in my yard, got in and ate the corner of my bread, picked up some tomatoes, had a nibble then flung them down, finally, thrashed about in the kitchen, smashing and destroying liberally in a panic when I entered the room, head-butting the window before leaving inelegantly from whence it came.

Come to think of it, are you sure your renters left your flat in such a mess?
