Serious Explosion
Tuesday, May 06, 2008

If the video isnt working well (Live Leak is some low budget shit...) try the next video, or come back later.

This experiment appears to be the burning of some gas or liquid inside a clear glass container so that the flame can be seen. The lights were turned off to better highlight the combustion. I have seen this done many times in metal cans or wood boxes... burning lighter fluid or propane or something like that... but in a glass container right next to you? Very very dangerous. And in this case, the man was lucky to survive without any serious injury. This could have been fatal, and even more likely it could have blinded him or blown his hand off. Notice several things:

The stick used to light the contents was propelled aside at many fps. The glass shattered and went flying all over, probably large pieces. (There is one case of an exploding glass container that killed a person, a shard went into his heart.) Note the power of the explosion was enough to shift the blinds on the other side of the room. Anyway great video, it seems like he only got a hit on the side, very lucky, and pretty damn dangerous.

If you are thinking of doing a dry ice or liquid nitrogen bomb... this should give you an idea of the power you can expect. Be careful out there.

I'm working on a long range potato gun. Probably use hairspray for a propellant...

I once saw something about a pumkin cannon contest in the US.

@ the vid: great explosion..but stupid idea..what was he expecting?

You somehow (at least in IE) put the vid up twice next to eachother, which gave me an enormous sidescrolling..

I don't think I will let my teenagers close to this part of your sight. They may get a little too inspired :) Very clever, I might add... KC

Thanks for leave a comment in Vivanatura.

This video is incredible and spectacular. But, like you, I think this experiment is very dangerous. I wouldn't make it: I felt a lot of fear. I wouldn't like to be in those room, maybe could hurt me.

What's the use of this kind of experiments?

    I'm delighted of pass hier.

    Greetings from Spain :)
