| 408 - Physics Package |
| Wednesday, October 22, 2008 |

Nuclear weapons contain a physics package: the actual bomb parts. This is about as close as we will ever get to seeing one. They are obviously very top secret. Here we see a smaller part, and a bigger part. In this tiny space is a powerful (and more importantly very hot) boosted fission bomb, and a fusion bomb. The fission bomb creates a massive amount of ablation pressure (burning a layer off quickly) on or above the order of millions of pounds per square inch. Yes thats right, a large building on every square inch. This pressure forces a heavy tamper material to rocket inward, and compresses Lithium-Deuterium fuel to start fusion. This tiny package is very heavy: probably 300 - 600 lbs. |

Actually I think I'd need two... they'd think I was bluffing if I couldn't give em a demo.
