| 483 - Cannonball floating in mercury |
| Tuesday, March 31, 2009 |

This incredible element is so dense that it can float a person with only a bit of displacement. (About 25 lbs per 1000 ml.) Even lead will float in mercury! (But not iridium, tungsten, or osmium.) |

nice to float on it, but I wouldn't do it without proper protection :P

Yeah like a space suit...

Do either of you know enough materials science or chemistry to explain to me why something so dense is a liquid?
Never mind, I googled it and found a good site with that and more: http://www.zyra.org.uk/mercury3.htm
I'm so tired. I should sleep. Tooooo much work.
