666 - (The mark of the science illiterate president)
When do scientists come forward and clearly inform people (such as the president) that the H1N1 death rate is similar to the normal seasonal flu? If anything, the panic caused by this will place a burden on healthcare resources. At least the sale of vaccines in huge amounts, at a profit, will help stimulate the economy...
Americans are very good at worrying about things that are small and simple, but very bad at worrying about big things that are confusing. Pollution vs. mad cow, nuclear war vs. gay marriage, or obesity vs. H1N1.
"To fully understand poetry, we must first be fluent with its meter, rhyme and figures of speech, then ask two questions: 1) How artfully has the objective of the poem been rendered and 2) How important is that objective? Question 1 rates the poem's perfection; question 2 rates its importance. And once these questions have been answered, determining the poem's greatness becomes a relatively simple matter.
If the poem's score for perfection is plotted on the horizontal of a graph and its importance is plotted on the vertical, then calculating the total area of the poem yields the measure of its greatness.
A sonnet by Byron might score high on the vertical but only average on the horizontal. A Shakespearean sonnet, on the other hand, would score high both horizontally and vertically, yielding a massive total area, thereby revealing the poem to be truly great. As you proceed through the poetry in this book, practice this rating method. As your ability to evaluate poems in this matter grows, so will, so will your enjoyment and understanding of poetry."
"The KVLY-TV mast (formerly the KTHI-TV mast) is a 2,063 ft (629 m) tall television-transmitting mast in Blanchard, Traill County, North Dakota, United States, used by Fargo station KVLY channel 11. It's considered the third tallest structure ever built, after Burj Dubai (incomplete as of 2009) and the Warsaw radio mast (which collapsed in 1991)."
From the looks of it, the balloon was way too small to lift a child. A zero pressure helium lift cell the size of a car, could probably only lift 10 or 20 pounds at the most.
Walking on egg shells, treating black people as if they are untouchable, as if they can never be criticized and never be wrong, is actually hurting them. It is actually a form of racism.
The problem here isnt that the skit was really that racist, the problem is the skit was painfully dumb and childish. Like most humor from around the world. Most British humor is so silly I find it painful to watch. That Monty Python is considered the pinnacle, and is yet really really silly, speaks volumes. Good thing for shows like The Office and better still, Extras, because they are just flawless smart humor.
To have Harry Coniq Jr. speak for all Americans, in some kind of painful, drunken, broken English is the worst part of this video. What was he even trying to say there?
"I dont want to take this show to a lower new level. I it is just that americans have spent so much time trying to build black people up and not make them look bad that when we see the blackface we go to a lower valence level and we remember the war of northern aggression." It looked mostly like southern guilt to me.
I have seen many animals give birth, from fishes on up... but this video has to be one of the most emotional, grotesque, and impressive yet. Elephant mothers seem to knoweth their shiteth.
